The new AC Milan star, Ronaldinho was in good debut performance but could not prevent AC Milan slumping to a home defeat from Bologna at San Siro Stadium on Sunday. In a highly contested match, it was the Serie A newboys who did just enough to secure the 2-1 slight win.
Marco Di Vaio gave Bologna a lead on 18 minutes. Massimo Ambrosini succeed to equalise the score on 41 minutes. Ronaldinho created two nice crosses for veteran striker Filippo Inzaghi and another for second-half substitute Andrei Shevchenko, who comeback from Chelsea after two years, but neither could finish. In the end Francesco Valiani won it for Bologna 11 minutes from full time with a thunder shot from 25 yards outside the penalty area. The goal really knocked the wind out of Milan’s sails and they created very little for the remainder of the game. Bologna held out comfortably in the closing stages to record a shock win.
The Rossoneri will take encouragement from a brilliant debut by Ronaldinho, which bodes well for the season ahead, but they will be disappointed with losing their seasonal opener.
This was just a bad start for AC Milan, but i'm sure the Rossoneri will fight hard to reach their expectation this season. Come on, Ancelotti! Show the world that AC Milan is the real champion!
